The Bosland Young Artist Vocal Competition Weekend brings together some of the country’s most promising young singers for a celebration of passion, artistry, and the next generation of opera performers.

The weekend begins on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Story & Song, with a special recital featuring acclaimed soprano Amy Shoremount-Obra and pianist Felix Jarrar. A celebrated artist on the world stage, Shoremount-Obra has performed at the Metropolitan Opera, where she made her debut as First Lady in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, and has appeared in leading opera and concert venues throughout the United States and abroad. Known for her powerful voice, expressive artistry, and remarkable versatility, she has earned recognition for performances spanning the great
works of Mozart, Verdi, Wagner, and Puccini.

The excitement continues on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Amelia Plantation Chapel, with the 2026 Bosland Young Artist Vocal Competition. Talented undergraduate-aged singers from across the country will compete before a distinguished panel of judges for cash prizes and the opportunity to showcase their artistry. Audiences will experience the thrill of discovering tomorrow’s opera stars as these rising performers bring their voices, individuality, and passion to the Amelia Island stage.

The weekend concludes on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Story & Song, with a special masterclass led by Amy Shoremount-Obra and collaborative pianist Dr. Dasom Kwon. This unique educational experience offers audiences and aspiring singers a rare behind-the-scenes look at the artistry, technique, and mentorship that shape great vocal performance.

From one of opera’s most accomplished voices to the rising stars of tomorrow, Amelia Island Opera’s Vocal Competition Weekend celebrates the full journey of the singer — honoring the traditions of the past while championing the artists who will shape the future of opera.
