Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice is sponsoring free access to the film “The Hardest Day” through January 28.
The film is about the powerful relationship between people and their pets. The documentary looks at veterinarians who help pets pass away peacefully in their homes with their human friends at their side. As sad as it is to explore last moments with loved ones, it gives credit to caring pet owners and the professionals who help them each step of the way.
Lap of Love was established by UF College of Veterinary Medicine graduates Dr. Dani McVety-Leinen and Mary Gardner. The group is a network of veterinarians dedicated to providing in-home hospice and end-of-life care for pets. Started in 2009, the program has participating veterinarians across the nation.
“The Hardest Day” has received multiple awards, including Best Documentary and Best Director. The film’s about page warns it might be a hard watch for viewers who have recently lost a pet.
