Indoor Workouts to Beat the Heat

By | July 6, 2026

Summer in Florida can be summed up in two words: rainy and humid. And often we want to avoid the heat altogether and ditch the outdoor workouts.

Good news is that there are numerous ways to stay active while staying in and enjoying the AC.

Find a space that is big enough to move around and get moving with these quick indoor workouts that don’t require any equipment.

Cardio Exercises

Incorporate a workout method known as Tabata, which involves 20 seconds of working your hardest followed by 10 seconds of rest. Generally, you should do 8 rounds.

Tabata is great for high-intensity cardio workouts and for building your stamina. You can make modifications as needed to create a more intense workout (lengthening the amount of time you work and decreasing the amount of time you rest).

You can do rounds of the following for a great indoor cardio workout:

  • Jump Squats
  • Knee Highs
  • Butt Kickers
  • Jumping Jacks

Weightlifting Exercises

No equipment? No problem! Using our bodies as the machine is the best way to grow stronger.

See what you can do in the first round, and challenge yourself in the second.

  • 7 Push-ups
  • 7 Elbow Plank Walks
  • 7 Mountain Climbers
  • 7 Plank Jacks

No Equipment Abdominal Circuit Workout

Want to work on chiseling your abs but don’t have equipment? No problem, you can just do some common circuit workouts that all focus on your abs. Repeat for two full cycles.

  • Bicycles (30 seconds)
  • Russian Twist (30 seconds)
  • Flutter kicks (10 seconds)
  • Leg raises (5-reps)

Cool Down

The most important part of the workout is the cool-down.

Doing a cool down allows the body to return to a normal, resting heart rate and stretching allows the used muscles to flush out the build-up of lactic acid.
