During this uncertain time, it’s important that we all make an effort to come together and support our community in any way we can. While first thought may be to donate to the medical field, there are many other fields that provide essential services to us, such as farmers! With Farm Share you can now donate to local Florida farms.
According to Farm Share, it is their mission to make sure that no Floridian goes hungry and no food goes to waste. They partner with food pantries, churches, schools and other nonprofits throughout Florida to distribute food every day, and it’s all thanks to their donors that make this possible.
According to their website, “Since its inception Farm Share has distributed over 576,479,707 pounds of food to hungry families – with a fair market value of more than $1,008,839,487.”
While they don’t currently have a Gainesville location, they have warehouses in Quincy, Jacksonville, Pompano Beach, Homestead and Florida City to be able to deliver to the entire state efficiently. Farm Share is coming to Newberry on April 29 to deliver food to local families.
To donate to Farm Share and help them continue their goal of providing fresh food free of charge to Floridians, check out their website and check out their calendar to see when they’re coming into town next!
