The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says…
- The vaccines have been through clinical trials to make sure the potential benefits of a COVID-19 vaccine outweigh the potential risks. This is in line with what is called the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA).
- A vaccine will work with your immune system to fight off the virus if you are exposed.
- “COVID-19 vaccines will not give you COVID-19… None of the COVID-19 vaccines currently in development in the United States use the live virus that causes COVID-19.”

In Florida…
- At time of print, Florida hospitals to receive the vaccine include Memorial Regional in Broward, UF Health in Jacksonville, Tampa General Hospital, AdventHealth Central Florida in Orlando, Jackson Health System in Miami and UF Health in Gainesville.
- Healthcare workers are the first to receive the vaccine, as well as Long-Term Care residents. It is unclear who will be next in line to receive the vaccine.
