Regal Cinemas and AMC Theaters announce new dates for reopening. The movie theaters were originally planning to reopen at the end of July, but with the surge in the county’s COVID-19 cases, the chains pushed back the reopening date once again.

The new reopening date for Regal Cinemas is set to August 21, 2020.

“Reopening plans include a wide range of new health and safety measures based on guidelines provided from the CDC,” according to the Regal website. “The plan also includes safety measures based on feedback received from employees and moviegoers they have deemed most important for their return.”

AMC Theaters announced that they are planning to reopen in mid-to-late August, according to an AMC press release.

Both companies have new safety standards and guidelines to implement when they do reopen, and staff and customers will be required to wear masks inside the buildings.
