2020 Census

Today is Census Day! Many of you started to receive census mail and census invitations starting around March 12. Now is the time to respond to the 2020 Census.

“Responding to the 2020 Census is easy, safe and important, and it’s key to shaping the future of your community,” Census Bureau Director Steven Dillingham said. “The 2020 Census will determine the number of seats each state has in the U.S. House of Representatives, and influences how hundreds of billions of dollars in public funds are allocated for critical public services like emergency response, schools, hospitals, roads and bridges over the next 10 years.”

The Census Bureau encourages every person and household to respond to the census as soon as they can. After you receive your census invitation in the mail, you can respond to the 2020 Census online, by phone or by mail.

If you do not respond to the census by May 27, “Census takers will interview homes that haven’t responded to the 2020 Census to help make sure everyone is counted,” according to the 2020 Census website.
